From the subtle
into matter.
An exhibition in three movements.
Subtle. Crossing. Matter.
3–26 September 2026
Out of a box · Antwerp
A passage through
the act of creating.
Begin with the small aquarelles. Follow the walls through oil and digital painting to sculpture and relief. Then turn towards the centre.
The three walls symbolise successive aspects of creating. The route ends at a central triangle, where the visitor is invited to consider their own capacity to imagine and make.

Subtle
Small aquarelles
An impression begins to take form.
Small aquarelles open the sequence. Their intimate scale invites close attention; within the exhibition, they stand for the first stirrings of an image.

Crossing
Oil & digital painting
The inward image crosses into expression.
Oil and digital paintings occupy the second wall. Imagined environments and neural forms connect the emergence of an image with the capacities that make imagining possible.

Matter
Sculpture & relief
Form enters the space we share.
Sculptures and reliefs extend line into volume. At the third wall, form enters the visitor’s space. From here, the route turns towards the centre.

The fourth stage
is you.
From the surrounding walls, the route turns towards the central triangle.
The triangle marks a place from which to look back at the three phases together. It gives the visitor a position within the exhibition’s structure.
The invitation is to recognise this passage in your own experience: something imagined, interpreted and given form.
Three surrounding walls. One position within them.
What begins to take shape
in your own imagination?

One process.
Shared through looking.
- The exhibition represents the creative process.
- The artworks emerge through that process.
- Their placement expresses different aspects of it.
- Neural and biological imagery connects the subject to the capacities involved in perception and making.
- Visitors participate through their own imagination and interpretation.
A closer encounter.
